Since the first digital cameras were introduced to the market, there have been three main methods of capturing the image, according to hardware configuration of the sensor and color filters.
The first method is called single-shot, in reference to the number of times the camera sensor is exposed to light passing through the lens. Single-shot systems use a CCD with a Bayer filter, or three independent image sensor (one for each of the additive primary colors: red, green, and blue) are exposed to the same image through an optical system image separation.
